Welcome to Donald Lange’s website!
Donald provides civil litigation services to residents and businesses in Haliburton and Muskoka. As a litigator in downtown Toronto for 20 years and in Haliburton and Muskoka for the past 5 years, Donald has gained a broad knowledge of the law and extensive experience. He has successfully argued many cases in the Trial Courts and in the Court of Appeal. He has also taught civil litigation courses at the Law Society of Upper Canada for licensing lawyers to practice law and was a research lawyer for the judges of the Court of Appeal.
Donald is the author of a major book on a fundamental doctrine of the court system, The Doctrine of Res Judicata in Canada (Butterworths, 2nd ed. 2004, 560 pp.). His book is about lawsuits and explains why a person can only sue once for each case. The book has been quoted by courts and tribunals across Canada, including the Supreme Court of Canada on four occasions, several times by the Ontario Court of Appeal and Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and by all other provincial courts of appeal and provincial trial courts. Donald wrote the book in the Haliburton Highlands where he resides and conducts his civil litigation practice in the Superior Court of Justice. He has also been appointed by the Attorney General of Ontario as a Small Claims Court Judge for the Haliburton and Muskoka courts for the past five years.
